  • When are lessons held?

  • How do I know which class is right?

Our programs are designed based on the Tennis Australia Hot Shots Program, and follow the recommended age brackets of that program. Typically, players joining Hot Shots for the first time will start in the following:

    • Blue Stage: Age 3-5
    • Red Stage: Age 6-8
    • Orange Stage: Age 9-10
    • Green Stage: Age 11-14

  • How many kids are in a group class

Our player ratios are based on the lesson length:

    • 30 minutes: up to 4 players, per coach
    • 45/60 minutes: up to 6 players, per coach
    • 90/120 minutes: up to 8 players, per coach over two courts

  • What happens if it rains or is very hot

We always will try and run our lessons, this means that we will go ahead in light rain if deemed safe, or in high heat, where we will modify the format of the lesson appropriately.

There will be times where it is too wet, or too hot, and we will have to cancel the lesson. Sometimes this decision may not be made right up to the start of the lesson, to give eery possible chance of going ahead.

When a lesson is cancelled, you will be notified by SMS. You should ensure your contact details are up to date through the customer portal.

  • Can I pause my lessons while I go on holidays

If you are unable to attend your lesson, and you know in advance you can cancel your session and receive a make up lesson voucher to use in the same term (from week 3 onwards).

However, we are unable to pause your payments while you are away, as we are still holding the spot in your class for you.

If you are going away for an extended period of time, you may prefer to cancel your enrolment before the start of that term and re-enrol when you return

  • How do I cancel my enrolment

Enrolment in our coaching programs is a full-term commitment and is considered ongoing from term to term unless written notice of cancellation is provided.

To avoid late cancellation fees, cancellations must be received more than 7 days prior to the start of the next term through our cancellation form: https://formcrafts.com/a/qpjxegk

Cancellations will be applied as follows:

    • Cancellations received after Week 2 of the term: Full term fees are payable in full. The enrolment will be discontinued at the end of the current school term.
    • Cancellations received within 7 days of the term start date or during Week 1: A late cancellation fee equal to two weeks of standard class fees will apply.
  • What equipment do I need to bring

We recommend you bring the following to each tennis lesson

    • Tennis Racquet
    • Hat
    • Drink bottle
    • Sports shoes/clothes (Wear your Hot Shots Shirt once you receive it)

  • How does the progression between levels happen

We understand that moving to the next stage is rewarding, however, that advancement is based on a combination of age, ability, individual needs and frequency of training.

Sometimes we will recommend a player spend longer at a certain stage to refine certain skills to ensure a successful transition into the next stage, as changing too soon can be detrimental in some cases, and allow bad habits to form with the change in environment (court size and ball type).

  • What size racquet should I buy?

When choosing a tennis racket for your child, the number one concern is finding the correct size. If your young player uses a racket that is too big and heavy, then they are at risk for injury. Despite there not being a drastic increase in weight, the force required to swing a too-big racket is greater and can cause undue stress on the wrist and elbow. On the other hand, if your child uses a racket that is too small, it can stall their progression in the sport.
